I found this article on Bargaineering.  It is a blog devoted to finances, etc but I thought this particular article was relevant in so many ways to life in general.  I have said that I am looking for balance in my life.  The article talks about goals and how we all have many but since we really can’t effectively multi task for very long and still do things very well we are like jugglers who juggle all these various goals but our one true goal (or as the author likens it) our Manifest Destiny only gets touched once every few seconds.  How can we, therefore, expect to do well by it (the one main goal) and as a consequence ourselves, our essence, our soul?  Again, balance.  Contentment.  Serenity.

My one main goal, purpose, destiny.  To get myself and as many others as I can to heaven to spend eternity with our Holy Father.  Everything else follows that (relationships, health, household, vacations, hobbies and so on).

I was reading through a new to me subscribed to page and came across an article here that really spoke to me.  It is about I Don’t Know which is of course how I feel most of the time.  The article encourages you to just make a decision and in practicing that act you will refine it unlit you are living your life.  Just what I needed to read.

The Way Some People Get Things Done April 24, 2009

Okay, this has happened so many times and is so irritating.  I’ll come across a post, usually via a link for somebody’s blog and I’ll read the entry and think I must comment on this blog.  So I do and then the stupid thing tells me I need to log on to WordPress, which I already have so there goes my comment!  From now on, I’m going to comment on my own blog about how brillant their blog is.

So today, the brillant idea is from her. The things I loved were her ACRONYM cleaning system, her use of index cards which is something I’ve done in the past and her giving her day and her index card list to the Lord each day.  What she doesn’t get done, she feels is something the Lord didn’t want for her to get one that day.  Love it.  The acronym thing I’ll have to H/T to her.

From Nicole as linked to above.

Monday ~ Mounds of Laundry and Mop it Monday (6 loads of laundry and mop my concrete floors)

Wednesday ~ Wipe it Wednesday (dusting and all other surfaces)

Friday ~ Finish Up Laundry and Floors Friday (about 5-6 more loads of laundry and vacuuming)

If I Were To Homeschool My Son April 18, 2009

My youngest has shown some apprehension about middle school, which is normal, I know.  I have apprehension about middle school too; having had three boys already go through it.  I did not enjoy the experience.  We live in a good school district so it is not the education; it is the social crap.  DS is a sweet, sensitive, shy boy.  He isn’t the most popular, doesn’t have a lot of friends, is intelligent, has ADHD, is afraid of flying insects, is wise, isn’t team sports inclined and I just love him to pieces.  Part of me thinks that life is hard enough, why put him through middle school.  Anyway, I have looked at homeschooling before in a general way as I find the whole thing fascinating.  This year, however, I am going to investigate it further.  I plan to attend our areas Catholic Homeschool Conference in June.  In looking at different methods of educating a person I believe that I prefer the unit study method.  I plan to start accumulating that type of information in the event we decide to go that route.

There.  I made is public.

Organizing Tee Shirts April 6, 2009

This is a very clever way to keep order to t-shirts in your drawers.  The link is a photo looking down into the drawer.  The blue thing in the front are metal bookends painted blue.  When you want to get a t-shirt out, loosen the bookend a bit, then slide it back in tighter.  When you want to put more in, loosen it some and add your shirts.  I am going to try this in my son’s drawer.  Check it out here.
I just tried this in my drawer with some of my tank tops and I didn’t need a metal bookend.  Will try this with my son’s stuff before I go search for a bookend.
Update, did this in my son’s drawer and didn’t need a bookend.  I believe this is working for me!  I love it because you can go right to the shirt you want rather than rifling through the stack to find the one you want.

1.  Wake up Rob and feed all fish

2.  Brush teeth and get completely ready (shower, dressed, hair and makeup done)

3.  Eat a healthy breakfast

4.  Set timer for a half hour and when it rings, DO TWO.

5.  Review calendar for upcoming events, committments and tasks.

The last two weeks I have been on auto pilot just getting the things that need to be done that day done with not much thought going into the day which has turned into weeks.  Part of this is because I have been down with a cold and the other part is that it has been a particularly busy last two weeks.  I usually don’t do well with busy as I am one who needs here down time; however I think I’ve basically handled everything okay.  I am, however, starting to feel the out of balanceness so I’ve got to stop reacting and start acting or the progress I’ve made thus far will fade to black.

The things I haven’t done that I must do and want to do are:  walking on the treadmill, going to at least one daily mass, begun a Bible Study, logged me food intake and spent more time with the Lord.  Other things that are looming are getting things to Goodwill, getting the studio in order, planting some mums out front, and continuing the kitchen reorganization.

I’ve got a tennis lesson coming up in less than an hour, while out today I’m going to the Half Price Bookstore to look for our book club books, to WalMart for some inexpensive mums and to Michaels to buy either the Scrapbook Trends book, the crocheting book or the cookbook (if I can use my coupon).

When I get home, I need to keep laundry moving, empty the dishwasher, load the van up with Goodwill stuff and make our bed.

That is the current plan.  More later.
