Say “Yes” When You Mean “Yes”
“Anything more is from the Evil One.” The devil entices us to be cunning and clever, to deceive others with flattery and adulation. He is called “the father of lies,” and it is easy to become one of his sons. Deceit is the opposite of truth. Instead of being clever, we should be sincere with those who trust us and let our “yes” be simply “yes” and our “no” be simply “no” – anything more comes from the evil one.

Conversation with Christ: Lord, you told the apostle Thomas that you were “the way and the truth and the life” (John 14:6). Help me to be a pillar of truth and rectitude; help me to speak with others as I speak with you.
