What I Tell My Students They Should Want To Do February 5, 2010

Filed under: Catholic,Education,Explanations,Prayer,Time With God — alwayswithme @ 10:28 am
  1. Read your Bible every day to get to know Christ better. “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

“Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.” (Psalms 119:105)

  2. Talk to God in prayer every day, all day.  It doesn’t have to be in flowery, sparkly words.  God is your friend, your father, talk to him like you do those whom you know love you very much, because, believe me HE does. “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22)

“Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.” (Philippians 4:6)

  3. Be baptized, worship, fellowship, and serve with other Catholic Christians at Mass weekly and in programs offered by the parish or diocese.  “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Matthew 28:19)

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:25)

“All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:” (2 Timothy 3:16)

  4. We just finished our study of Pentecost and I tell them this is what they are called to do.  We the priest says, “Mass is ended, go forth to love and serve the Lord”,  this  is what he means.  Tell others about Christ. Feed the hungry, clothe the poor, heal the sick and by your actions they will know you to be men and women of God and will be willing to listen to you about “what you have, that they don’t”.  Then invite them to a parish activity, explain what you heard at Mass, tell them about our Sacraments.  Tell them why our rituals and traditions are important to us.  Invite them to join you at Mass, offer to be their sponsor in RCIA. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15)

“For though I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of: for necessity is laid upon me; yea, woe is unto me, if I preach not the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

Almighty and eternal God,
who created us in Thy image
and bade us to seek after all that is good, true and beautiful,
 we beseech Thee,
that, through the intercession of Saint Isidore, Bishop and Doctor,
during our journeys through the internet
we will direct our hands and eyes only to that which is pleasing to Thee
and treat with charity and patience all those souls whom we encounter.
Through Christ our Lord.   Amen.
